1) Who we are
Kafel (“Kafel Wallet”, “Kafel”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a digital wallet application designed to enable users to send, receive, and manage funds and donations.

2) Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information such as name, phone number, email address, and login credentials (for example, one-time codes), where applicable.
- Profile details you choose to add (for example, display name or avatar).
- Customer support communications (messages, attachments, or feedback you send to us).
2.2 Information generated by using the app
- Wallet and transaction data such as transaction amounts, timestamps, status, fees, merchant/campaign identifiers, and recipient details necessary to complete transfers.
- Receipts and logs for audit, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, and compliance.
2.3 Device and usage information
- Device information such as device model, operating system version, language, and unique identifiers where permitted by your device settings.
- App activity such as feature usage, performance metrics, crash logs, and diagnostic information.
- Network information such as IP address and approximate region inferred from IP (not precise GPS), for security and fraud prevention.
2.4 Information from third parties
- Authentication providers (for example, phone authentication or identity verification) may share confirmation results (e.g., “verified”) and basic identifiers.
- Payment processors (for example, Stripe) may share payment status, charge IDs, dispute/chargeback events, and limited metadata needed for reconciliation.
We do not intentionally collect: precise location (GPS) unless you explicitly enable a feature that needs it (and we will ask permission first).
3) How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide and operate the wallet service (create accounts, process transfers, deliver receipts, and show balances).
- Process donations and payments, including fee calculation and settlement.
- Authenticate users and prevent unauthorized access.
- Prevent fraud and abuse, detect suspicious activity, and enforce our terms.
- Communicate with you (service messages, security alerts, and support responses).
- Improve the app (performance, debugging, analytics, and feature development).
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
5) Payments and financial processing
Kafel may use third-party payment processors (for example, Stripe) to accept deposits or donations and to send payouts, where available.
- Payment card details are typically collected directly by the payment processor and are not stored on our servers (except as allowed by the processor, such as a token/identifier).
- We receive transaction status and identifiers needed for reconciliation, refunds, and dispute handling.

6) Device permissions
Kafel may request certain device permissions to support core features:
- Camera: to scan QR codes for send/receive and merchant payments. We do not store your camera feed; scanning occurs locally on your device.
- NFC (if enabled): to read compatible NFC tags for payments or identification flows.
- Notifications: to alert you about transactions, security events, and receipts (you can disable in device settings).
You can control permissions in your device settings. Some features may not work if permissions are disabled.
7) Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary depending on the type of data and purpose (for example, transaction records may be kept longer for audit and compliance).
8) Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. No system is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
- Encryption in transit (e.g., HTTPS/TLS) where supported.
- Access controls and least-privilege practices for operational systems.
- Monitoring for suspicious activity and abuse.
9) Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights such as:
- Access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction of inaccurate information.
- Deletion (subject to legal/compliance retention requirements).
- Objection or restriction in certain circumstances.
- Data portability for information you provided, where applicable.

Marketing and notifications
We may send service-related messages (e.g., security alerts) even if you opt out of marketing. You can control push notifications in device settings.
10) International transfers
We may process and store information on servers located in different countries where we or our service providers operate (for example, cloud hosting regions). We take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards for cross-border data transfers, where required.
11) Children’s privacy
Kafel is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it where appropriate.
12) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy here and update the “Last updated” date above. We may also provide additional notice in the app.
